Having been recognised as an "excellent" Council by the Audit Commission this is an exciting time to be thinking about joining us as we seek to implement our new vision of "Building on excellence".
As a progressive Council we have been awarded a range of Chartermark services, a Use of Resources score of 4 out of 4, customer satisfaction of 68% and staff satisfaction ratings in excess of 80% and achieved 'exemplary' status in our recent Investors in People (IiP) assessment. Notwithstanding that, there is always more we can do and as an authority we are continually looking to learn and improve. We place great emphasis on getting staff involved in decision making at all levels of the organisation and encourage people to cross traditional job boundaries to work with colleagues from other parts of the Council. We do this not only to maximise personal development and encourage greater commitment to the Council but also because we recognise staff as a valuable asset, a talent pool that can be used for the generation of new ideas and to take forward projects and concepts for the benefit of our community.
The next few years will provide exciting challenges for all local authorities and the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 points to huge opportunities which we need to embrace in order to further strengthen our partnership arrangements and improve our efficiency and effectiveness.
